Simplicity is honestly not simple at all. It’s one of the most complex things to decipher. Well, let me put it in another way.
I visited this absolutely beautiful place in Mumbai today. Its called ‘Le Pain Quotidien’ (the daily bread – notice the simplicity?). At our table, as in every other restaurant were salt and pepper shakers and sugar. It got me thinking. The most basic things, as basic as salt, pepper and sugar, can define our whole lives.
Salt – to add taste. And honestly, what is life without taste? Who would like to live a bland life? If there’s no salt in food, its just not edible. Same way, life without the essentials – family, friends, love – is unlivable!
Pepper – to add spice. Ups and downs, highs and lows are inevitable. An occasional, but very essential, spice is always welcome. In fact that is what makes living so thrilling, so amusing, so astounding.
Sugar – to add sweetness. I think what we all live is to taste the sweet taste of success after failure, triumph after defeat, happiness after sorrow. Just the way we end our meals with something sweet, every person hopes his/her life ends on a sweet note, leaving behind nothing but wonderful memories.
Last but certainly not the least, how could I forget the bread! The very simple and essential bread, for the very existence of every being.
So here’s to simplicity of life.
